Following the sudden death of her husband, Chris Mabon was embraced and comforted by a large number of friends, neighbors, and members of the community who showed their love and support by bringing food, words of comfort and helpful hands to her and her sons. In addition to the food, these relationships brought her insights to characteristics she needed to develop or expand. Because of her experience, she wants to share the vital lesson she learned: Good friends can renew, restore and revitalize the spirit. We owe ourselves the same love and care that we give to family and friends. In the shortest days of the year when the “winter blues” can get us down, a little self-pampering can go a long way. Sharing examples from her book, 101 Ways to Nurture Yourself, Mabon will teach us ways to uplift ourselves by nurturing body, mind, and spirit, at Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, Tuesday, January 23 at noon.
Chris Mabon publishes a monthly e-newsletter about friendship, has written and published the book 101 Ways to Nurture Yourself and is currently working on a manuscript Comfort Food - One Woman’s Journey to Understand the Meaning and Significance of Friendship. In this forthcoming work, she discusses the many valuable lessons she learned from those who supported her.
When she is not writing or speaking Chris enjoys walking, yoga, visiting her sons and of course, time with her friends. Visit her website at: http://www.christinemabon.com.
