LUNCH WITH BOOKS: Wheeling Film Society - The Graduate

Apr. 7 - Towngate at 7, Free Screening

Apr. 11 - Library at Noon, Conversation

When Mike Nichols agreed to direct The Graduate, and when Dustin Hoffman first read the script, both had the same thought about the title character, Benjamin Braddock: That’s me.  Millions of others agreed: Benjamin and his girlfriend Elaine Robinson became representatives of a generation of people discontented by materialist values and empty relationships.  There are so many angles from which to talk about this film, from “Plastics” to Mrs. Robinson to Simon and Garfunkel’s soundtrack – and there are few endings more ambiguous and thought provoking in Hollywood history.  John Whitehead hosts.
