People's University: The Civil War 1865 & the Lincoln Legacy

The latest series in the People's University program at the Ohio County Public Library in Wheeling will focus on the closing battles of the Civil War, and the assassination and legacy of President Abraham Lincoln and the struggles of veterans returning from war. Classes will meet on consecutive Tuesday evenings at 7 PM, from March 3 through April 21 in the library's auditorium.

Class 1 The Beginning of the End



Kris WhiteThe Beginning of the End – The Fall of Fort Fisher and the Meeting at Hampton Roads. This class will include a recap of the Civil War in 1864 and the first significant events of 1865, including the Second Battle of Fort Fisher in January and the Hampton Roads Peace Conference in early February.

Instructor: Kris White

Kristopher White earned his MA in Military History from Norwich University. He is a former staff military historian at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. He is the co-author of Chancellorsville's Forgotten Second Front: The Second Battle of Fredericksburg, and Simply Murder: The Battle of Fredericksburg,December 13, 1862.
