Joe Roxby will discuss his new book about Sam Brady (1756-1795), one of the legendary Indian fighters of his day in the Wheeling area. A born leader with woodsman’s skills rivaling those of Lewis Wetzel, Brady led a band of scouts who watched the trails and acted as an early warning system for Indian attacks. In October of 1781, he was captured by Indians, but escaped, crossing 150 miles of wilderness to get home safely. Brady was named chief of scouts by Gen. (Mad) Anthony Wayne.
