Library Opening for Curbside Service Starting June 8

OCPL PRESS RELEASE - MAY 26, 2020:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the safety of Library staff and patrons, the Ohio County Public Library closed its doors on Monday, March 15, 2020. We have remained closed since that date. At the May 19th OCPL Board of Trustees meeting, the trustees decided that the Library can safely resume accepting returns and providing curbside service to patrons beginning in June.

Starting Monday, June 1, 2020, OCPL will begin accepting returns of library materials through the Library's book drop. Because of the need to quarantine returned items, library materials will not be checked in for several days after being returned. Though patrons may continue to receive overdue notices, they can rest assured fines will not be charged for any returned items. Materials may be deposited into the book drop any time starting Monday, June 1, and going forward from that date.

Then beginning Monday, June 8, 2020, the Library will resume circulation and reference desk services via phone, and begin curbside services. Curbside services will include the pick-up of reserved library materials, requested tax forms, and requested research and reference printouts. Notary and photocopy services will also be provided curbside. In addition to these library services, OCPL’s outreach service to homebound patrons will also resume deliveries beginning June 8th.

Patrons will be able to call the library at 304-232-0244 to schedule an appointment to pick up reserved books, DVDs, magazines, and other materials. Items may be placed on reserve in advance either by phone or through our online catalog. Curbside service will be delivered in the Library's main parking lot. The 16th Street entrance will remain closed. Once the Library staff has completed a reserve order, a staff member will call the patron to schedule an appointment for pick up.

Starting June 8, staff will be answering the phones and providing curbside service during the following hours:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10 am to 3 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 10 am to 7 pm

In addition to library services, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program which operates in the Library will resume beginning June 1st as a curbside service. Regular drop off and pick up will be available in the back parking lot of the Ohio County Public Library every Monday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and Tuesday from 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM through July 7th. For more information or to arrange an alternate time, call 740-633-2879.

OCPL's trustees and staff are excited to begin serving patrons once again!
