On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible on a narrow track stretching across the United States from Oregon to South Carolina while a partial viewing of the eclipse will be visible throughout the continental United States. This will be the first total eclipse of the Sun visible from all 48 contiguous United States since 1979. Robert Strong of SMART Centre Market will explain the upcoming solar eclipse and how to prepare for it at 7 pm, Thursday, August 17 at the Ohio County Public Library.
Robert Strong is co-owner of SMART Centre Market and CEO of the SMART-Center (501C3). A West Virginia Wesleyan graduate with a Physics degree, Strong also holds a Master's in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota. Robert has been a classroom science and mathematics teacher, physicist, and informal science and mathematics educator. Robert has a passion for astronomy and provides over 40 StarWatches and other astronomy programs a year. This program is free to the public and open to all ages, but recommended for grades three and above.
