LUNCH WITH BOOKS: Lucy Bagby and The Fugitive Slave Law a Community Performance

In celebration of Juneteenth, learn the true story of Lucy Bagby, a Wheeling slave who ran away to Cleveland, was captured amid protests of abolitionists, and returned to her Master, William Goshorn. She was the last fugitive to be surrendered by the North under the Fugitive Slave Law before the Civil War. Sing along with Wade in the Water, Follow the Drinking Gourd, and other period songs.  Cleveland-based "Kulture Kids" Founding Artistic Director and Lead Playwright/Performer, Robin Pease portrays Lucy. Note: This program will be interactive! Six members of our community will also perform (by reading provided scripts and wearing provided costumes): William Goshorn: Travis Henline; Underground Railroad Conductor: Robert Gaudio; Judge Daniel R. Tilden: Judge Harry White; Abolitionist 1: Jeanne Finstein; Abolitionist 2: Walt Warren; and Abolitionist 3: John J. Coffield.
