LUNCH WITH BOOKS: Meet Nathaniel Hawthorne

Independent scholar and literary historian, Rob Velella, the creator of “The American Literary Blog,” will portray the young American writer, Nathaniel Hawthorne. A reclusive writer who did not enjoy public appearances, Hawthorne preferred reading his works instead of making presentations. Velella explores his short tales as well as an abridged version of Hawthorne's famous novel The Scarlet Letter. Velella hopes to make Hawthorne's brilliant work easier to digest and understand for modern audiences.
