LUNCH WITH BOOKS: Wheeling 250 - The African American Experience

Through photographs, video, music, art, and readings of primary source material, this multimedia presentation will tell a story of African American life in Wheeling from slavery through Civil War, Emancipation, "Jim Crow," the "Great Migration," desegregation, Civil Rights, urban renewal, and contemporary life. Presenter: Ron Scott, Jr., and others TBA.

Lunch With Books: Feb. 5, at noon - Whg 250: The African American Experience

Ron Scott Jr. serves as the Cultural Diversity & Community Outreach director for the YWCA Wheeling. A graduate of Wheeling Park High School, Scott attended Morehouse College and graduated from West Liberty University. Scott's experience in community-based advocacy and the arts have led him to hold several roles including founder of the Ohio Valley African American Students Association; a member of Undependent Films and board member of the Independent Theater Collective. He was also a former president and vice president of the Upper Ohio Valley NAACP and vice chairman of the Wheeling Human Rights Commission.
