On Monday, April 8th, 2024, a solar eclipse will be visible across the entire continental US. Here in Wheeling, we will be very close to the path of total eclipse, with over 90% coverage. The eclipse will occur roughly between 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm on the 8th, with totality for just a few minutes between 3:14 pm and 3:17 pm.
Robert and Libby Strong from Wheeling's SMART-Center will explain the science behind solar eclipses and how to prepare for this type of celestial event at 6 pm on Thursday, April 4th at the Ohio County Public Library.
Attendees will also receive up to 2 free pairs of ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse viewing glasses.
This program is free to the public and open to all ages, but recommended for grades three and above.
