Seed Swap for the OCPL Seed Library

Join us for our very first Seed Swap!

We are excited to announce our first ever Seed Swap event as a kick-off to our brand new Seed Library here at OCPL! On October 25th, we would like to invite you to join us in our auditorium from 6pm-8pm as we swap seeds, raffle off some garden-related prizes, and celebrate the harvest season together!

We will be joined by members of GrowOV, a local food-growth and distribution group working to build a sustainable local food system in Wheeling, and members of WVU Extention's Master Gardeners. These groups will be available to answer gardening questions and get you excited to work in your own garden throughout the harvest season and the year!

The admission fee to partake in this event is one seed packet donation and we recommend bringing several seed packets to swap with other gardeners! Please provide seed information written on each seed portion, including: common name, variety, year and location of harvest, seed-saving technique, pollination information, and any other pertinent notes you may have. Donated seeds must be from open-pollinated, non-genetically modified, non-hybrid and/or heirloom plants, and must not be listed as an invasive species by the WV Division of Natural Resources. Bulbs and live plants may be swapped between patrons but cannot be donated to the library!
