In the Wake of Disaster, OCPL Is Here for You.

In the Wake of Disaster, OCPL Is Here for You.

The past few weeks have brought devastation to the Ohio Valley. The flash flooding that took place on June 14th took so much from our community, and repeated heavy rains have only made repairing and moving forward from the flooding that much harder. This, in part with an extreme heat wave, has put incredible stress on the valley. Our hearts go out to the community at this time. The incredible loss of this disaster is still being felt, and as the community recovers, we want to help in whatever way we can.

A message from our Director, Amy Kastigar:

“Ohio County has faced its share of trials in the last few weeks. Terrible flooding, extremely high temperatures, and continued rain have challenged our residents and left us wondering, “What can we do to help?” And as your library, our answer ultimately is to carry on doing what we do best.

If you need a cool, quiet place to rest, recharge, or read;

If you need an internet connection to check your email or do research;

If you need to charge your phone or other devices;

If you need a safe place for your children to read, relax, or play;

If you need the entertainment provided by quality programming for adults, teens, and children;

If you need help finding community resources to help you get back on your feet;

If you need to borrow an internet hotspot to reconnect at home;

If you need to borrow a book, a video game or a dvd to distract you;

If you want to borrow tools, cooking utensils, or craft items from our Library of Things;

If you just need a minute to surround yourself with friendly faces…

…We are here for you.”

If you need help finding answers, guidance on where to turn, our dedicated and knowledgeable librarians are here to help. We would also like to promote this website, which provides resources for those affected and those who wish to help.
