Upgrade Coming to OCPL - Temporary Interruption May Be Experienced

Patrons may experience some very brief interruptions to service during late evening hours as the library's IT provider prepares for this update. It is expected that these interruptions will only last for a short period of time. The library staff asks that you remain patient during this time as our service provider prepares for this update to better serve you in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience.


The Ohio County Public Library will be upgrading cataloging operations beginning on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 3:00pm. The improvements will continue until the library reopens on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 9:00am. Patrons who access the library’s online catalog will experience interruption during this time. Additionally, some online resources may also be interrupted.

The following online resources will remain available for patrons to access during this time:

Hoopla: Instantly Read, Listen, and Watch with Your Ohio County Public Library Card! In addition to the 10 hoopla Instant borrows you receive each month with your Ohio County Public Library card, you now will have 10 hoopla Flex borrows you can use on thousands of specially marked hoopla Flex eBooks and Audiobooks. 

Libby: Check out and download e-books, audiobooks, music, and more to your Kindle, Nook, iPad, Android tablet, laptop or desktop computer from our on-line offerings through WVDeli.

OCPL Digital Newspaper Archives: Digitized versions of the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer newspapers are available from the Ohio County Public Library. We now have the entire run of the Intelligencer newspapers from 1852-present online. We are currently digitizing the News-Register and the years 1863-1976 are now online with many of the Sunday editions available to the present.

Enjoy access to The New York Times, compliments of the Ohio County Public Library. Ohio County Public Library patrons can expect a return to normal online and in-person service on Monday, November 14, 2022.
