Researcher Peter Chacalos will discuss his new book, Born of Rebellion: West Virginia and the Civil War. The book offers a concise journey through the major Civil War military events in what is now west Virginia. It also looks at the individuals, like Jesse Reno, Waitman Wiley, and Belle Boyd, whose actions impacted the war or the creation of West Virginia. From the Wheeling statehood conventions to first governor Arthur Boreman, Born of Rebellion examines the road to West Virginia statehood.
Chacalos is a graduate of Wheeling Park High School, WVU, and Ohio University. He is a photographer, retired teacher, and VP of the Ohio Valley Civil War Roundtable.
