Information Collection and Use
Personally Identifiable Information ("PII" or "Personal Information") is collected to provide Users a better experience while using our Services. Users can always decline to supply Personal Information, however, should a User choose to withhold requested PII, We may not be able to provide the online services dependent upon the collection of that information.
The information we collect will be used to contact you (ex.: subscribing to an e-newsletter or answers to questions submitted online) or identify you (ex.: authentication of your library card number for online services).
Examples of Personal Information the OCPL collects include:

- E-mail Address
- Library card number and PIN
We want to inform you that whenever you visit our Services, we collect information that your browser sends to us that is called Log Data. This anonymous information is used for systems administration to collect statistics, troubleshoot problems, and improve our Services.

We want to inform our Users of our Services that these third parties have access to your Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Because we value your privacy we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.
Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
Regardless of any provision of this policy to the contrary, the implementation and maintenance of this policy is in no way intended to create, recognize, or accept any legal duty on the part of the Ohio County Public Library that does otherwise exist.
