TODDLER TIME AT THE LIBRARY: If Animals Celebrated Christmas

It's December and we're ready to have a BEARY MERRY CHRISTMAS! Join us for some holiday Toddler Time fun.

Based on the "Mother Goose on the Loose" program, Toddler Time is a fun-filled thirty-minute interactive program that uses rhymes, songs, puppets, musical instruments, and more to stimulate the learning process of babies and toddlers. It is a proven method for planning and presenting programs that focus on the whole child.

Join us for this special program most Monday and Friday mornings at 10:30 AM in the library auditorium. Toddler Time is held in the auditorium on the lower level of the Library (view Library map). This fall and winter, Toddler Time will also be broadcast online, live, on Mondays at 10:30 am (see below for details).

Today's Toddler Time: For this Berry Merry Toddler Time, we will read a book about how animals celebrate holidays.

book coverToday's Book: If Animals Celebrated Christmas by Ann Whitford Paul ; pictures by David Walker.
Book Synopsis: What if animals did what YOU do? If animals celebrated Christmas...how would they do it? This charming story describes how animals might celebrate the holidays. Tortoise would hiss a holiday wish, Crane would croon joyful carols, and Mama and Papa Buffalo would kiss beneath the mistletoe. Across the animal kingdom, every creature would deck the halls for this magical season.

"Mother Goose on the Loose"

The "Mother Goose on the Loose" program helps children develop skills for success in a classroom. It helps children acquire a rich vocabulary and strengthens foundational reading skills. MGOL gives children opportunities to practice turn-taking, direction following, paying attention and showing appreciation to others. The age-appropriate listening, moving, and singing that takes place in MGOL exercises fine and gross motor skills, fosters speech development, keeps children’s interest for an extended period of time, gives children opportunities to make scientific observations regarding cause and effect, and provides a joyful introduction to the world of books and reading.
