Q: When and where is the 2023 Wheeling Reads Book Festival?
A: Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Ohio County Public Library in Wheeling, WV.
Q: How much does it cost to vendor at the 2023 Wheeling Reads Book Festival?
A: Vending at the Book Festival is absolutely FREE this year.
Q: What is the deadline for submitting a vendor application?
A: To be included in promotional materials (signage, programs, etc.), applications must be received and approved by August 1, 2023.
Q: May I share a table with another organization, business, author, or writer?
A: Yes, but you must find your own table partner.
Q: What comes with my vending area?
A: The Market is set up like a trade show. One (1) 8’ table and two (2) chairs are included per vendor space. No pipe and drape, side walls, etc. are included. Two (2) additional chairs and one (1) additional table may be requested per vendor (with proper justification offered to explain need). Additionally, one 15-amp electrical circuit may be requested.
Q: What should I bring with me?
A: We encourage you to bring a variety of books, art, and other merchandise which focus on West Virginia, Appalachia, environmentalism, children’s books, gift books, and other related products/materials. We recommend that you make the most of your space with signs, banners, and other decorations, and that you consider having prize drawings. Vendors keep all proceeds from book and merchandise sales.
Q: Do I collect sales tax?
A: Your final packet will include information from the West Virginia State Tax Department regarding sales tax.
Q: How can I promote my participation as a vendor in the 2023 Wheeling Reads Book Festival?
A: If we receive your payment by August 1, we will list your organization on the event website, social media, poster, and program. You may also choose to purchase advertising of your own. In addition, we expect that you will promote your participation in the festival on your website, email list, and/or social media.
Q: When is setup and breakdown? (Times subject to change)
A: Friday, September 8th – Vendor Setup – 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Saturday, September 9th – Vendor Setup – 8am-10am
Saturday, September 10th – Vendor Breakdown – 4:00pm-6:00pm
Q: How can I get tickets to the 2023 Wheeling Reads Book Festival?
A: Our event is free. You do not need admission tickets for any speaker programs or the Festival Market.
Q: What happens after I submit my application?
A: Accepted vendors will receive a confirmation of acceptance by email and then a final packet including information about load-in and other information by September 1.
