WELCOME TO OCPL KIDS!

Our collection boasts over 35,000 items including books, magazines, music CD's, DVD's, and more to choose from.  You'll find everything for children newborn through age twelve as well as for the adults who work and play with them.

The Children's Department of the Ohio County Public Library is the place to read, play, learn and grow!

Early childhood literacy is important. Children who are read to regularly exhibit higher activation in areas of the brain that support mental imagery and comprehension of narratives — key skills needed for independent reading comprehension. Library programs have significant positive impacts on early development and help equip children with lifelong learning and literacy skills that help prepare them for school and beyond.

Call us at 304-232-0244 or email [email protected] to request more information.

Story Time and Toddler Time Online: On YouTube and Facebook

Story Time Online

While the Library had restrictions on in-person programs during the COVID pandemic, from April 2020 through July 2021, all of our children's programming was virtual. Story Times, Toddler Times, and special stories with activities were broadcast live to our social media pages and recorded so patrons could watch from home. Though our kids' programs go back to in-person the first week of August 2021, our recorded programs from this period are still available to watch online.
