James E. Burke Collection of Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Photographs, 1913-1960
About this collection:
➤ The collection consists of memorabilia and photographs related to Burke’s career with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. Memorabilia consists primarily of material related to his work as a telegrapher, including the Constitution and By-Laws of the Order or Railroad Telegraphers and The Telegraphic Cipher Code booklet. Of note is also a logbook which appears to be a record of money transfers from 1941-1951. The rest of the collection consists primarily of photographs related to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, including engines and various employees. Other railroads are represented, including the Benwood & Wheeling Connection Railway and the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway. Also, there are several photographs of local railroad scenery, including the sign at Rosbby’s [sic] Rock (Rosby’s Rock).
